The Thames Magistrates Court is the Administration Centre for the East Group (Stratford, Thames & Waltham Forest Magistrates' Court) and hears adult work from Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Newham, Waltham Forest Boroughs. There has been a court on this site since 1860 when the former Bow County Court by Charles Reeves was built. The original drawings of this, dated 1849 are held at the National Archives, Kew. The current, Thames Magistrates Court and Juvenile Court was built in 1990, the Architect was Phillip Arrand, architect to the Metropolitan Police. Amy Winehouse (1983-2011) and Pete Doherty (1979 -) Musicians, both appeared at Thames Magistrates Court at different times.
