Wilby Terrace is made up of four properties spanning numbers 642-648 Mile End Road. It is a good example of a late Victorian mixed-use terrace. The shops at ground floor have been serving the community for over 160 years, with number 648 having been a chemist continuously since 1848. This building also housed the practice of Abraham Gross, Physician and Surgeon, from the 1930's until the 1960's. Abraham Gross was the father of John Gross (1935-2011), renowned author and Journalist. His brother, Tony Gross, is founder of Cutler and Gross Opticians.
