The Hayfield Tavern has been a place of entertainment at the junction between Mile End Road and Mile End Old Town since the 1700s.  Until recently it was the brewery tap for Charrington’s Brewery (housed across the road 1872-1975), and the large rooms upstairs where Brewery directors met for private dining and meetings. Now known as the Hayfield Masala, it is a restaurant which hosts family parties, serves Indian food, shows Bollywood films and alcohol is no longer allowed. It represents the changing cultures and tastes in the area.
