  • Completed: c.1900
  • Historic period: Inter-war: 1919-1939
  • This is a significant building
  • Current Use: Retail

This building was once Ragosine oil (later Recol) merchants shop supplying oil to the aircraft industry, among others. Ragosine Oil was founded by Victor Ivanovitch Ragosine from Russia, who patented a type of oil made from minerals instead of vegetables and animals. There are other links to the aircraft industry in this area, such as the Bryant & May Match Factory being used to build aircraft during World War II.
