The Central Foundation Girls' School represents a Flemish Renaissance revival style with good quality materials: red brick with white stone and terracotta dressings and a slate roof. It has well-surviving elevations and contributes positively to the street frontage.

A large scale redevelopment is under way, in order to provide the necessary accommodation for the future development of the school over the next ten years. The project includes a new building that will link the school to the adjoining Phoenix School. The construction cost is £20 million, it will take 42 months, starting in July 2011 to be completed in January 2015. The architect is Cazenove Architects. Kia Abdullah, author and journalist, attended the school from 1992-1998.
