The decorative sign above the entrance to the shop is by Arthur Szyk, an American based Jewish graphic artist who lived in the UK for a short while.  Szyk is well-known world wide for his war caricatures and the political and social content of his work. The sign above Alberts menswear is his only 3d piece remaining in the UK.  Made in 1935, it is an iconic symbol of the Jewish community living in the area at that time.
