The building is one of the pubs in the area that through its function was witness to important historical and sociological times. The name of the former pub celebrates a Prince of Orange (the Graf Moritz) who helped the English to defeat the Spanish in 1600 at the Battle of Nieuwpoort. It is also said to be one of the pubs where the infamous Kray brothers held their meetings regularly in the 1950s and early 1960s.
